This information is applicable only if you have a PCI-based Mac OS computer connected to a Novell Netware network.
System 7.5 Update 2.0 contains the Ethernet Compatibility extension version 1.0.3. Without the Ethernet Compatibility extension, a PCI-based computer running System 7.5.3 will crash when you choose Shut Down or Restart.
To use the Ethernet Compatibility extension, you must custom install the Ethernet Driver Update. To do so, open the System 7.5 Update 2.0 Installer, select Custom Install in the upper pop-up menu, and select the Ethernet Driver Update (at the very bottom of the list of custom install options).
Even after you install the extension, you’ll notice a two-minute delay in shutting down the computer. You can avoid this delay by logging out of the Netware tree before you shut down or restart.
